WCA 2010: Nail Biting.

It would be a lie if we did not have a single expectation for WCA 2010. In fact it would not be TGC at all if all of us did not inked it into our heads quietly that we had a good chance of taking Division 3 Champions home. But certainly no one mentioned it out loud until we actually managed a hot winning streak for prelims and pushed further into the quarter final 8s.

If there is anything that we lack was certainly not character. We had 1 game plan.... yup and with that a myriad ways to execute. Being WCA the competition was tough. In fact not one team we faced was a walk in the park but more importantly we had fun. In all that we lost only 2 prelim matches while the top 16 onwards was very tough. Somewhere along the way till the quarters which we lost there was a draw and loosing with the slimmest of body counts.

Overall, TGC made 7th out of 32 teams with 161 points. Not too bad considering we had no idea what sort of quality we were up against. Above all else with our good showing we managed to show our sponsors what are we all about and assert to the rest of the world that made it for WCA we are not some team they could brush off easily.

Above all else, whats makes WCA so enjoyable was the consistency of the marshalls, the fabulous paint we got to shoot and of course awesome venue. By far if there is anything other local tournaments can learn from WCA is certainly on this 3 crucial points. For TGC we are for sure looking forward to WCA 2011 held on the legendary island of Langkawi. Heard that organizers are pledging for the first ever tournament with indoor (air conditioned?) and turf playing surfaces in the region. If that is the case we are sure not to miss that!

Our heartiest thanks to Ezra, Marry, Baby and Paan for being phenomenal organizing our paddock. Cik Mat and Wandy for the numerous pep talk and minor details of strategy and of course Dye for the awesome technical support during the whole tournament.
